 Minutes of April 13, 2021 Monthly Meeting

The April 13, 2021 monthly meeting of Fairfield Township was called to order at 6:00 PM by Chairman Phil Yetzer.  Other board members present were Supervisor Les McCoy, Supervisor Brian Glenz, Treasurer Kathy Hachey and Clerk Marianne Auge.

The Pledge of Allegiance was said.

The agenda was reviewed, and Phil made a motion to approve the agenda and Les 2nd the motion and it carried unanimously.

The minutes of the March 7 ,2021 meeting were read. Brian made a motion to approve the minutes and Les 2nd the motion and it carried unanimously.

Les made a motion to move Big Al’s ahead of the treasurer’s report and Brian 2nd the motion and it carried.

Al from Al’s on 6 requested the board approve his liquor license. Les made a motion to approve the liquor License for Big Al’s Bar & Grill and Brian 2nd the motion and it carried. Phil abstained from voting. Al asked the board to approve a new sign for him to put up. Les made a motion to approve the sign per Crow Wing County specs and Brian 2nd the motion and it carried.

The treasurers report was read. Les made a motion to place it for audit and Brian 2nd the motion and it carried unanimously.

No public comment.

New Business:  Phil made a motion to approve the meeting schedule the clerk presented for May 2021 through April ,2022 and Les 2nd the motion and it carried unanimously.

Wages were discussed. Les made a motion to leave the wages as they are and Brian 2nd the motion and it carried unanimously.

Kathy said she listened to the short course meeting and some of the items they talked about were, setting up zoom meetings, cyber security, and noxious weeds. Kathy said if the noxious weeds are on the landowner’s property the landowner needs to remove them or if the township removes the weeds, we can bill the landowner for removal.

Smoking in the town hall and garage was discussed. Brian said he would tell the employees they cannot smoke in the township buildings and he will put no smoking signs up.

Employee’s duties were discussed. Les suggested we need to define job duties for the employees.

The clerk said she received a phone call and an e-mail about the beavers plugging up the culvert by Goodrich Lake. Les said he would tell Russ to check on the culverts on Bonnie Lakes Road. Les made a motion to keep the beaver bounty at $100.00 for each beaver caught in a problem area in the township and Phil 2nd the motion and it carried unanimously.

Les said there was no news on the upgrades for the new garage.

Les said we got the new power washer and the employees got trained on it.  One of the employees filled the power washer with the power washer soap instead of gas, and we must get it repaired now.

Brian said there is a pothole on Fletcher road that should be filled. The clerk said she received a call from the new residents on Little Bass Lake Road asking if they could put a private drive sign on the road and the clerk told them it was a township road, and they could not put a private drive road sign on the road. The clerk said she would talk to the board about ordering a caution children playing sign to put on the road. Phil made a motion to have road inspection on April 28,2021 at 4:15 PM and Les 2nd the motion and it carried.

Les said he has scheduled Pequot Lakes Sanitation to bring the compacter truck for clean-up day on May 15,2021. Les said he would call Chad Genz to bring the dumpsters also.

Kathy showed the supervisors the brochure she had printed up for the cemetery. Kathy said she would like to take a different picture of the cemetery to put on the brochure.  Phil made a motion to order 100 brochures for $115.00 and Les 2nd the motion and it carried.

Go North: Kathy said there was nothing new.

Les made a motion to leave the duties of the supervisors as they are. Phil as chairman, Les for roads and equipment and Brian for buildings and cemetery. The supervisors will back each other up.

The Crosslake fire contract was presented to the board. Brian made a motion to accept the fire contract with Crosslake and Les 2nd the motion ant it carried.

Correspondence was read.

Bills were read. Les made a motion to pay the bills and Phil 2nd the motion and it carried unanimously.

Les made a motion to adjourn and Brian 2nd the motion and it carried unanimously.   The meeting adjourned at 8:15 PM.
