 Minutes of August 8th, 2023 Monthly Meeting

The August 8, 2023, monthly meeting of Fairfield Township was called to order at 5:00 PM by Chairman Phil Yetzer. Other board members present were Supervisor Les McCoy, Supervisor Molly Swaggert, Treasurer Kathy Hachey and Clerk Marianne Auge. Gene and Marilyn Moritz also attended the meeting.

The Pledge of Allegiance was said.

The agenda was reviewed. Phil made a motion to move 9-F to 3.5 on the agenda, and Molly 2nd the motion and it carried. Phil made a motion to approve the agenda with the corrections and Molly 2nd the motion and it carried.

Gene Moritz said his attorney was going to send an E-Mail to Les requesting a meeting at the property on Moritz Road to discuss the water run off problem. Les said he had not received an e-mail yet. Les said we are planning to take the culvert out directly across from the ditch to slow the water flow down. Gene asked what the extra gravel on the corner was going to be used for and Les said he did not know.  Les said he would be gone until August 14, 2023.

 Bills were reviewed. Les made a motion to pay the bills and Molly 2nd the motion and it carried unanimously.

The minutes of the July 11, 2023, meeting were read. Phil made a motion to approve the minutes with the correction and Molly 2nd the motion and it carried unanimously.  The correction was changing the DRT meeting to TEP meeting.

Treasurer Kathy Hachey read the treasurer’s report. Molly made a motion to place the treasurer’s report for audit and Les 2nd the motion and it carried unanimously.  Kathy also reported to the board on the interest rate for a 7-month Certificate of Deposit. Kathy said we would get more interest on a CD than we get on the ICS account. Phil made a motion to move $150,000.00 from the ICS account to the general fund and to purchase 2- $50,000.00  7-month CDS with the money and put the other $50,000.00 in our checking account.   Molly 2nd the motion and it carried unanimously. The Sourcewell account has $659.27 in it and the COVID ARPA account has $21,736.29 in it.

 New Business: Equipment purchase- Les said the snowplow truck we purchased is in good shape and it just needs to be painted and we should be getting it by September. Les said he would order magnetic signs that say Fairfield Township to put on the equipment.

 Culverts on Bonnie Lakes Road still need to be replaced.

AW Research water testing- We will need to find a date for the testing and send a post card to residents in the township. The clerk will get address labels from the county for sending out the post cards.

The cemetery brochure is being worked on. Kathy will set up a meeting with Tim Kostal to discuss monument sizes and placement of the monuments. Kathy will let Molly and the clerk know when the meeting date is. Kathy will have new pictures taken of the town hall when the kiosk roof is painted.

Go North-Nothing new.

Correspondence was read.

Molly made a motion to adjourn and Les 2nd the motion and it carried unanimously.   The meeting adjourned at 6:07 PM.
