 Minutes of December 1`3, 2022 Monthly Meeting

The December 13 ,2022 monthly meeting of Fairfield Township was called to order at 6:00 PM by Chairman Phil Yetzer.  Also present were Supervisor Brian Glenz, Supervisor Les McCoy, Treasurer Kathy Hachey and Clerk Marianne Auge. And Curt Westerman.

The Pledge of Allegiance was said.

The agenda was reviewed. Phil made a motion to approve the agenda and Brian 2nd the motion and it carried unanimously.

The minutes of the November 10, 2022, meeting were read. Brian made a motion to approve the minutes and Les2nd the motion and it carried unanimously.   

The treasurer’s report was read. Les made a motion to place the treasurers report for audit and Brian 2nd the motion and it carried unanimously. Kathy said the ARPA account has $37,268.59 in it and the Source Well account has about $1297.03.

Curt Westerman from the DNR explained that the DNR would like to purchase a 40 acre parcel of land in Fairfield Township from the Conservation Fund which is a non-profit organization. The purpose of the purchase is to give the DNR right of way to other parcels of land in the township which would help them manage the timber. The township supervisors had no objections to the purchase of the property.

New Business: Phil made a motion to approve the resolution designating the Fairfield Town Hall at 35430 State Highway 6, Emily, MN as the polling place for 2023 elections. Les 2nd the motion and it carried unanimously.

Road Maintenance:  Brian said the blades on the snowplow truck needed to be changed and asked who would change them. Les said he would talk to Russ about changing them.

Les said he talked to Pat Wehner, Public Works Director from the City of Crosslake, and Pat told him that Crosslake is planning to chip seal their main road  around Bonnie Lakes and crack seal the side roads.  Les said we should do our roads around Bonnie Lake and Goodrich Lake at the same time to save money on the project. Les said he needs to print out a map of the area we would like done and send it in for an estimate on chip seal and crack seal.

 The new sewer for the town hall is done except for the topsoil.

The cemetery brochure is being worked on.

Correspondence was read.

Bills were read. Les made a motion to pay the bills and Brian 2nd the motion and it carried unanimously.

Les made a motion to adjourn and Brian 2nd the motion and it carried unanimously.   The meeting adjourned at 7:15 PM.
