 Minutes of January 13th, 2022 Monthly Meeting

The January 13,2022 monthly meeting of Fairfield Township was called to order at 5:00 PM by Chairman Phil Yetzer.  Also present were Supervisor Brian Glenz, Supervisor Les McCoy, Treasurer Kathy Hachey and Clerk Marianne Auge.

The Pledge of Allegiance was said.

The agenda was reviewed. Les made a motion to approve the agenda and Brian 2nd the motion and it carried unanimously.

The minutes of the December 14, 2021, meeting were read.  Les made a motion to approve the minutes and Brian 2nd the motion and it carried unanimously.

The treasurer’s report was read. Phil made a motion to place it for audit and Les 2nd the motion and it carried unanimously. The ARPA-COVID has $18581.05 in it. Kathy said she filled out the indebitness report and sent it back to the county.

New Business: The clerk presented the list of election judges for the supervisors to approve. Phil made a motion to approve the list of election judges the clerk had on file and Brian 2nd the motion and it carried unanimously. The election judges will also be the absentee ballot board.

West Adney Lane: Les said he met with Mark Wessels at Marks office. Les showed him the survey and let him know that the township couldn’t do anything with the road unless the township was given an easement deed for the property. Les than told him the road would have to be brought up to county specs before the township could take it over. Mark said he would talk to the property owners on the piece of road they would like to have blacktopped and find out what they would like to do to get the easement dedicated. The road has to be reshaped so the water can run off of it.  Les said after the existing road is brought up to date the township would take it over. Mark said he would talk to his legal rep. and see what options they have. Phil said he returned the road inventory documents to the back room.

Moritz Road: Gene called Kurt Westerman who is with the DNR Forestry & Land Management Department in Backus, MN. Les called and talked to Kurt about Moritz Road.  Les told Kurt that the township is planning to put in bigger culverts, and we will continue to trap beavers. Kurt said he will call Gene Moritz and let him know it isn’t feasible for the township to put a ditch through the swamp.  Kurt said he would look at the road in the spring when the snow is gone. Kurt thanked Les for not digging beyond the road right of way. Kurt also said we could trap beavers in the water shed area.

 Garage addition: We still need to build the Wastewater Pond, but we have 2 years to do it. Brian said he had a discussion with Russ about the holding pond. Brian said there is cold air coming in by the garage door. Brian said we may have to do some work by the garage door in the spring.

Go North:  Kathy said that 50 Lakes doesn’t want to be in the recycling program. Kathy said they are still working on the recycling program.

COVID Policy: Kathy said she would redo the COVID Policy, and the township would go by the state guidelines.

 The COVID money can be put into the general fund and it can also be used for roads.

Correspondence was read.

Bills were read. Les made a motion to pay the bills and Brian 2nd the motion and it carried unanimously.

Les made a motion to adjourn and Brian 2nd the motion and it carried unanimously.   The meeting adjourned at 5:56 PM
