 Minutes of July 11th, 2023 Monthly Meeting

The July 11 ,2023 monthly meeting of Fairfield Township was called to order at 5:00 PM by Chairman Phil Yetzer. Other board members present were Supervisor Les McCoy, Supervisor Molly Swaggert, Treasurer Kathy Hachey and Clerk Marianne Auge. Gene Moritz also attended the meeting.

The Pledge of Allegiance was said.

The agenda was reviewed. Phil made a motion to move public comment to 3.5 on the agenda, and Molly 2nd the motion and it carried unanimously. Molly made a motion to approve the agenda and Phil 2nd the motion and it carried.

Gene Moritz said he was in attendance at the county TEP meeting on July 10, 2023. Gene said he would like to plug the ditch that was put in years ago by the township.   Les said he talked to an attorney and the township can’t do anything beyond our easement. Phil asked Gene to forward the minutes from the meeting to the township so they could be reviewed. Gene said he would like the township to ask permission to plug the ditch.  Les said the township is working on building up the road and may remove a culvert to stop some of the water flowing. Attached are the minutes of the meeting held on July 10, 2023.

Bills were reviewed. Phil made a motion to pay the bills and Les 2nd the motion and it carried unanimously.

The minutes of the June 13, 2023, meeting were read. Molly made a motion to approve the minutes with the correction and Les 2nd the motion and it carried unanimously.  The correction was spelling.

The treasurer’s report was read.   Les made a motion to place the treasurers report for audit and Molly 2nd the motion and it carried unanimously. The Sourcewell account has $669.41 in it and the COVID ARPA account has $21,781.37 in it. Phil made a motion to move $63,000.00 from the general fund to the fire fund and Les 2nd the motion and it carried unanimously.

 New Business: Equipment purchase- Les said the township needs a newer snowplow truck. The one we have is a 1995 and we have been doing a lot of repairs on it. Les said he has found a used 2007 Sterling L7500 snowplow truck from Boyer Trucks that he would like to purchase for the township. Les said the truck has a stainless-steel box and sander. Les said the price of the truck is $64,672.00. Les said the approximate cost of a new truck would be around $250,000.00.  Phil made a motion to authorize Les to purchase the snowplow truck from Boyer Trucks for $64,672.00. and Molly 2nd the motion and it carried unanimously. Les said he would also like to purchase a Track loader with a grapple on it for brush and tree removal.

Les said he would call Tim and ask him to paint the roof of the posting board blue.

Les said the chip sealing on Bonnie Lakes Road is almost done. Les said they have a touch up coat to do and the center line to paint.  Les said he would like to have chip sealing done on Township Road 114 in 2024 if we can do it with the county.

AW Research water testing- We will need to find a date for the testing and send a post card to residents in the township.

The dust control is done. Les said he received calls for 3 weeks asking when the dust control would be done, and he told the resort that our supplier was having a problem getting the calcium chloride from the manufacturer and it would be done when the calcium chloride was available and when our supplier could do it.

Go North-Nothing new.

Correspondence was read.

Phil made a motion to adjourn and Les 2nd the motion and it carried unanimously.   The meeting adjourned at 6:25 PM.
