 Minutes of June 8, 2021 Monthly Meeting

The June 8, 2021, monthly meeting of Fairfield Township was called to order at 6:00 PM by Chairman Phil Yetzer.  Other board members present were Supervisor Les McCoy, Supervisor Brian Glenz, Treasurer Kathy Hachey and Clerk Marianne Auge. Also present   Aiden Gravelle and Mark Wessell.

The Pledge of Allegiance was said.

The agenda was reviewed. Les made a motion to approve the agenda and Brian 2nd the motion and it carried unanimously.  motion    

The minutes of the May 11 ,2021 meeting were read. Les made a motion to approve the minutes and Brian 2nd the motion and it carried unanimously.

The treasurer’s report was read. Les made a motion to place it for audit and Brian 2nd the motion and it carried unanimously. The treasurer said we would need to transfer some money from the ICS account to the general fund to cover the bills that we are paying this month. Les made a motion to transfer $50,000.00 from the ICS account to our checking account. Brian 2nd the motion and it carried unanimously.

Public Comment: Aiden Gravelle asked if he should keep trapping beavers on Darsnek Road and Les told him he could. Les also told him he could trap on Moritz Road if he got permission from Gene Moritz.

 Mark Wessell was at the meeting to see if the township had received any information from Anderson Brothers Construction on the cost of paving the gravel part of West Adney Lane. Les said he had not received an estimate for blacktopping from Anderson Brothers Construction. Phil said he did not know if the township could blacktop the road because there may be a question on ownership of the road.

Brian said Gene Moritz called him about putting a ditch in for more water drainage on the last part of Moritz Road that goes west to east. Gene said that private property is getting flooded. Gene said they used to put up hay on Cindy Moritz’s property, but they can’t now. Les said the township can not disturb wetlands without a permit and we can’t put a ditch on private property. Brian will talk to Gene Moritz about the board’s decision.

Kathy asked about Joining with Emily and Fifty Lakes for recycling. She said the county would pay 50% of the cost, Kathy said the Lions organization would man the recycling once a month. Kathy will try to find out what the approximate cost would be.

Brian said Lakes Gas replaced the lines from the propane tank to the garage and put a new switch in.

Kathy said the cemetery brochure would be done in a couple of weeks.

A discussion was held on the employee’s roles. Les said he would talk to Russ about the road work that needs to be done. Les will ask Russ to call him if he needs more help than Randy on any projects so Les can approve getting more help. Brian will talk to Tim Strobel about his duties and hours.

Correspondence was read.

Bills were read. Brian made a motion to pay the bills and Les 2nd the motion and it carried unanimously.

Les made a motion to adjourn and Brian 2nd the motion and it carried unanimously.   The meeting adjourned at 7:49 PM.
