 Minutes of May 11, 2021 Monthly Meeting

The May 11, 2021 monthly meeting of Fairfield Township was called to order at 6:00 PM by Chairman Phil Yetzer.  Other board members present were Supervisor Les McCoy, Supervisor Brian Glenz, Treasurer Kathy Hachey and Clerk Marianne Auge.

The Pledge of Allegiance was said.

The agenda was reviewed. Phil made a motion to move Letter A under new business ahead of the treasurer’s report and Brian 2nd the motion and it carried unanimously.  The agenda was approved.

The minutes of the April 13 ,2021 meeting was read. Les made a motion to approve the minutes with the correction and Brian 2nd the motion and it carried unanimously. The correction was replacing a misspelled word.

The minutes of the May 4, 2021, road inspection was read. Phil made a motion to approve the minutes and Les 2nd the motion and it carried unanimously.

Aiden Gravelle asked if the township gave bounties on beavers and gophers. Les said we only give bounties on beavers if they are caught on problem areas in the township. Les said that some of the problem areas are Darsnek Road, Moritz Road and Bonnie Lakes Road and the beavers need to be trapped on township easements. Les said if the beavers are on private property permission has to be given by the property owner to trap them. A picture of the beaver has to be sent to the township with information on where it was trapped before a bounty can be paid. Les said the township does not pay bounty on gophers.

The clerk said she got a call from the Emily Resort owners asking if we could do dust control on Dam Road now. The clerk told them we do dust control the end of June.  The owner said that the logging trucks on the road are making a lot of dust when they go by. The clerk said she would bring the problem up at the May meeting.  Les said dust control had been scheduled to be done the end of June. Les said if we do it before the end of June it doesn’t last the whole summer.

The clerk presented the Emily Fire Contract to the board. Les made a motion to approve the fire contract with the City of Emily and Brian 2nd the motion and it carried. Phil abstained from voting because he is a member if the Emily Fire Department.

Les said the culvert has been opened on Bonnie Lakes Road where the beavers had plugged it up.

Les said the power was buried to the garage addition.

The clerk read the letter from the insurance inspection on the garage. Phil made a motion to raise our deductible to $2500.00 and Les 2nd the motion and it carried unanimously. Phil made a motion to change the insurance to replacement cost and Brian 2nd the motion and it carried unanimously.

The cemetery brochure is waiting for a picture. Phil will contact someone to see if we can get a drone to take a picture of the cemetery.

Go North: Kathy said there was nothing new.

Clean-up day is May 15,2021. The clerk will call Al’s on 6 to order pizza for lunch for the workers.

Correspondence was read.

Bills were read. Les made a motion to pay the bills and Brian 2nd the motion and it carried unanimously.

Phil made a motion to adjourn and Les 2nd the motion and it carried unanimously.   The meeting adjourned at 7:40 PM.
