 Minutes of November 10th, 2022 Monthly Meeting

The November 10 ,2022 monthly meeting of Fairfield Township was called to order at 5:00 PM by Chairman Phil Yetzer.  Also present were Supervisor Brian Glenz, Supervisor Les McCoy, Treasurer Kathy Hachey and Clerk Marianne Auge.

The Pledge of Allegiance was said.

The agenda was reviewed. Phil made a motion to approve the agenda and Les 2nd the motion and it carried unanimously.

The minutes of the October 11, 2022, meeting were read. Les made a motion to approve the minutes and Brian 2nd the motion and it carried unanimously.   

Road Maintenance:  Les said he has hired 2 people for the snowplow driver position, Both have had experience plowing.

Les said he talked to the Minnesota Association of Township attorney about West Adney Lane. The attorney advised that the township continue to do minimum maintenance on West Adney Lane as far as the edge of the gravel and the surface of the road. The clerk wrote a letter to the residents letting them know that the township will plow the road and do minimum maintenance on the road.

The treasurer’s report was read. Brian made a motion to place the treasurers report for audit and Les 2nd the motion and it carried unanimously. Kathy said the ARPA account has $37,314.49 in it and the Source Well account has about $1300.00.

The clerk gave the Request for Commodities form from the Crow Wing County Highway Department to Les so he could let the county know how much sand/salt mixture we would want for the coming winter. The clerk will send the form in requesting 50 ton of the sand/salt mixture.

The board discussed the size of the cemetery stone for 2 lots. The supervisors decided that the stone for 2 lots could be 60” long.

The clerk said the Crow Wing County Land Services Department said the best way to get a cemetery lot changed would be to have the lot owner deed it back to the township and then the township could deed a different lot to the person.  Phil made a motion to let Laurel Laborde trade the lot she has in the cemetery for a different lot.  Laurel would need to pay the filing fees for the lot she is deeding back to the township and for the one she will be trading it for. Les 2nd the motion and it carried unanimously.

The cemetery brochure is being worked on.

Correspondence was read.

Bills were read. Brian made a motion to pay the bills and Les 2nd the motion and it carried unanimously.

Les made a motion to adjourn and Phil 2nd the motion and it carried unanimously.   The meeting adjourned at 6:00 PM.
