Monthly Council Meeting

July 9, 2024

The July 8, 2025, monthly meeting of Fairfield Township was called to order at 5:00 PM by Chairman Phil Yetzer. Other board members present were Supervisor Les McCoy, Supervisor Molly Swaggert, Treasurer Kathy Hachey, and Clerk Marianne Auge

The Pledge of Allegiance was said.

The agenda was reviewed. Molly made a motion to approve the agenda Les 2nd the motion and it carried unanimously

The bills were reviewed. Les made a motion to pay the bills and Molly 2nd the motion and it carried unanimously.

The minutes of June 10 ,2025 were read. Molly made a motion to approve the minutes and Les 2nd the motion and it carried unanimously.                                                                                                                                                                                                                                                       

 The June treasurer’s report was read. Molly made a motion to place it for audit and Les 2nd the motion and it carried unanimously.

Public Comment: None

New Business: The garage door on the cold storage side of the garage was repaired by JTH Garage Door LLC so it could be used again. We received a quote from JTH Garage Door LLC for replacing the garage door because it has a badly damaged section. The estimate was $1449.63. The supervisors discussed getting another quote for replacing the garage door. Les made a motion to spend up to $2000.00 to replace the garage door and Phil 2nd the motion and it carried unanimously. Molly will get a quote from the Door Dr. to replace the door.

The clerk presented the fire contract from the City of Emily in the amount of $19,138.02 for coverage from July 1, 2025, to June 30, 2026. Les made a motion to continue our contract with the City of Emily for Fire Coverage and Molly 2nd the motion and it carried.

Old Business:  

R&B- Les said the guys are building culvert grates to put on the end of the culvert so the beavers can’t plug them. Les said the grates were off some of the culverts on Bass Lake Road.

Les said we will be putting gravel on some roads. He said we are working on Darsnek Road where it was logged off.

Go North: Kathy said the City of Emily was going to pay for the full cost of the improvements that were presented to them to the corner by    HWY 6 and County Road 1 in the public parking lot by the hardware store.

The Cemetery Brochure is being worked on.  Molly made a motion to approve green burials at the township cemetery and Les 2nd the motion and it carried unanimously.

 Kathy said the Cemetery Brochure is being worked on. Molly made a motion to allow terramations to our cemetery and Les 2nd the motion and it carried unanimously.

Correspondence was read.                                               

Molly made a motion to adjourn and Les 2nd the motion and it carried unanimously.

 The meeting adjourned 5:49 PM.
