Public Comment: Abby Smith from the Crosby Public Library was at the meeting to explain why the library requested donations to help support the library. The clerk read the letter the township received from Jessie F. Hallett Memorial Library. Abby said the Trust
matched the funds received from the townships last year, but she said there is no guarantees that the matching funds will continue.
Abby said that Fairfield Township has 25 active library cards and the suggested donation would be $500.00. Abby said the library
has computers for public use, programs for children, test proctoring, book clubs, teen events, and jigsaw puzzles. These are in
addition to the traditional library offerings. Abby said in 2022 an endowment fund was established so in the future the yearly
interest earnings can contribute to operating expenses. Abby said the current service area of the library is the area of the CrosbyIronton
school district. Abby said Non-residents are asked to pay $20.00 per library card. Abby said they have put considerable
effort into keeping the current service area from having to pay to use the library. The letter said that if towns and townships are not
choosing to value our library, then in 2027 the library will change their service area to include only the communities that do provide
financial support.
The clerk read the letters from groups asking for donations. Marlys said all the letters of donations we got were worthy causes.
Marlys suggested the supervisors approve donations of $250.00 each to the Crow Wing County Fair and The Crow Wing County
Historical Society, $500.00 to the Emily Food Shelf and $850.00 to the Crosby Public Library. The clerk will check to see if the
township can give money to these organizations.
Old business: Marlys Mongan said that Libby Road was quite icy after snowing this year and there is more traffic on the road and she was wondering if something could be done to make them less icy.
New Business: Clean-up day is planned for May 16, 2026, from 9:00 AM to 12:00 PM at the Fairfield Town Hall. The clerk said she
