The May 13, 2025, monthly meeting of Fairfield Township was called to order at 5:00 PM by Chairman Phil Yetzer. Other board members present were Supervisor Les McCoy, Supervisor Molly Swaggert, Treasurer Kathy Hachey, and Clerk Marianne Auge
The Pledge of Allegiance was said.
The agenda was reviewed. Molly made a motion to approve the agenda with the changes and Les 2nd the motion and it carried unanimously. The changes were removing item 11 and adding logging behind the gravel pit as C’ under new business. .
The bills were reviewed. Les made a motion to pay the bills and Molly 2nd the motion and it carried unanimously.
The minutes of April 8 ,2025 were read. Molly made a motion to approve the minutes and Les 2nd the motion and it carried unanimously.
The Road Review minutes were read. Molly made a motion to approve the minutes and Phil 2nd the motion and it carried unanimously.
The April treasurer’s report was read. Les made a motion to place it for audit and Molly 2nd the motion and it carried unanimously.
Public Comment: None
New Business: The clerk read a letter from Crow Wing County Land Services Department regarding Classification to Non-Conservation and Future Sale of Tax Forfeited Lands. The 2 parcels are 60240524 and 60130505. Les made a motion to approve the classification change and sale of the tax forfeited parcels and Molly 2nd the motion and it carried unanimously.
The clerk presented the Joint Powers Agreement for invasive species on Lake Emily from the City of Emily for review. Les made a motion to approve the Joint Powers Agreement and Molly 2nd the motion and it carried unanimously.
Les said he got a call from Joe Jarvela about 80 acres of land behind the gravel pit. Joe said the property owners would like the 80 acres logged off. Joe said the loggers got the key for the gate from the property owners who own the 80 acres. Les said he told Joe the loggers would be responsible for any damage to the road going into the gravel pit, damage to the gravel pit or any garbage in the gravel pit.
Old Business: Les said Russ and Andy Moritz are going to look at the culverts that need to be replaced and Andy will give us an estimate to replace the culverts. Russ and Andy will work together to replace the culverts. Les said he talked to Russ about adding another culvert on Bass Lake Road. Les said Russ told him there are three culverts on Dam Road that need to be replaced because the bottoms are rusted out. Les said he talked to Russ about the dent on the south side of the garage. Russ said he didn’t know who scraped the side of the garage. Les is going to get some locks so we can lock the gate on County Road 36.
Clean up day is May 17, 2025. Phil said the company he called about shredding papers doesn’t work on Saturday. Les made a motion to get chicken, potatoes and coleslaw from Super One for lunch after clean-up day is over, Molly 2nd the motion ant it carried unanimously. Kathy will place the order with Super One for food for 10 people.
Go North: Kathy said Go North decided not to give any money to the City of Emily for their 125-year celebration.
Molly said she attended the CWCT Association meeting, and it was short and concise.
The Cemetery Brochure is being worked on.
Correspondence was read.
Les made a motion to adjourn and Molly 2nd the motion and it carried unanimously.
