Minutes of October 14, 2025, Monthly Meeting
The October 14, 2025, monthly meeting of Fairfield Township was called to order at 5:00 PM by Chairman Phil Yetzer. Other board members present were Supervisor Les McCoy, Supervisor Molly Swaggert, Treasurer Kathy Hachey, and Clerk Marianne Auge. Also present was Ron Scomner
The Pledge of Allegiance was said.
The agenda was reviewed. Phil made a motion to approve the agenda and Molly 2nd the motion and it carried unanimously.
The bills were reviewed. Les made a motion to pay the bills and Phil 2nd the motion, and it carried unanimously.
The minutes of September 9 ,2025 meeting were read. Molly made a motion to approve the minutes and Les 2nd the motion and it carried unanimously.
The September treasurer’s report was read. Les made a motion to place it for audit and Molly 2nd the motion and it carried unanimously.
No public comment. Ron schomer said that Russ did a good job fixing the holes on Darsnek Road.
New Business: Phil made a motion to allow any township officer that wishes to go to the Crow Wing County Township Association Meeting on October 23, 2025, at the Fort Ripley Town Hall be reimbursed for mileage and get paid a meeting rate. Molly 2nd the motion and it carried unanimously.
The November 2025 monthly township meeting has to be changed because of Veterans Day. Molly made a motion to change the November meeting to Thursday November 6, 2025, at 5 PM at the town hall. Phil 2nd the motion and it carried unanimously.
We had 2 employees quit. Les said he walked into the garage and smelled marijuana. Les said he called the lead employee and told him about smelling marijuana and asked him to find out who was smoking it. He told the employee that if no one owned up to it we would send them for drug testing. Les never heard from the lead employee and when Molly called the employee about a grease gun and he told Molly he quit the township. He left his key at the town hall. Les said he talked to Andy Moritz, and he will help the township with road grading this fall until the township finds a new employee.
Les said he put an ad on the Minnesota Works web site looking for a part time employee. Les asked Kathy to put the ad on the township web site. The ad should say we are looking for a part-time Motor grader operator with heavy equipment maintenance experience.
Old Business: Les said the pickup truck needs to be fixed. Les said he thinks the red truck has a solenoid problem. Les said he would also like to get a trailer to haul the bob cat.
The clerk said she called the auditors office and there is nothing we can do about the signage next to the township driveway because it is not on township property.
Kathy said Go North is still working on getting 501C status.
Cemetery Brochure: Phil asked if the cemetery brochure was done and Kathy said it was. Phil said to take it off the agenda.
Molly said she would ask Tim to put the hay on the flowers.
Correspondence was read. The clerk read an email about a Property Tax Presentation on November 5, 2025, at 6:00 PM at the Land Services Building. Molly made a motion to allow any township officer that wishes to attend the meeting get paid mileage and meeting rate and Les 2nd the motion and it carried unanimously.
Molly made a motion to adjourn and Les 2nd the motion and it carried unanimously.
The meeting adjourned 5:58 PM.
