The March 12, 2026, monthly meeting of Fairfield Township was called to order at 5:00 PM by Chairman Phil Yetzer. Other board members present were Supervisor Les McCoy, Supervisor Molly Swaggert, Treasurer Kathy Hachey, and Clerk Marianne Auge.
The Pledge of Allegiance was said.
The agenda was reviewed. Les made a motion to approve the agenda and Molly 2nd the motion, and it carried unanimously.
The bills were reviewed. Les made a motion to pay the bills and Molly 2nd the motion, and it carried unanimously.
The minutes of February 10 ,2026 meeting were read. Molly made a motion to approve the minutes with the corrections and Les 2nd the motion and it carried unanimously. The correction was to chip seal on Township Road 114 not sealcoating.
The February 2026 treasurer’s report was read. Les made a motion to place it for audit and Molly 2nd the motion and it carried unanimously.
Public comment. None
Old Business:
Road maintenance Culverts are on hold until later.
Locks: Les said he is going to wait to have new locks put on the door until he sees how the combo locks work at Crosslake Park and Campground.
Kathy said Go North is still working on getting 501C status. They have the state ID and the federal ID but they have another form to fill out and submit. Go North is working on a drainage and erosion management plan
New business: Les said he would check with Chad about the number of dumpsters needed for clean-up day on May 16, 2026.
Les said he will check on getting more granite to put on the town hall driveway.
The clerk said she received a call asking if a boulder could be used for a grave marker instead of a regular monument. The supervisors said it would need to be on a concrete base and would need to be anchored to the base, and it would have to be in the size specs we have for a monument.
The clerk asked if the township was going to donate any money to the organizations that applied for donations at the annual meeting. The proposed donations at the annual meeting were $250 each to Crow Wing County Fair and Historical Society, $500 to Emily Food Shelf, and $850.00 to Jesse F Hallet Library, pending legal eligibility and supervisor approval. Phil made a motion to give $250.00 to Crow Wing County Fair and Les 2nd the motion. Phil made a motion to give $250.00 to Crow Wing County Historical Society and Molly 2nd the motion. Phil made a motion to give $850.00 to the Jesse F. Hallet Library and Les 2nd the motion. All motions carried unanimously
Correspondence was read. The clerk read a notice on the dates of the short courses for township officers. Phil made a motion to reimburse any township officer for attending the short course for an all-day meeting and mileage, Molly 2nd the motion and it carried unanimously.
Molly made a motion to adjourn and Les 2nd the motion and it carried unanimously.
The meeting adjourned 5:47 PM.
